Tracey Emin Birthday party July 2012
A belated happy birthday to Tracey Emin who celebrated her 49th birthday last week at Annabel’s in London. Her smooth moves on the dance floor reminded us of her interesting 1995 video work “Why I Never Became a Dancer,” which was included in her recent retrospective at Hayward. In the video, after giving us a vivid account of her childhood in Margate and her dancing ambition Emin starts dancing manically round the room to Sylvester’s “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)” No wonder she rarely left the dance floor on her birthday! Those who came to celebrate with her included Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, Evgeny Lebedev, Jay Jopling, Bianca Jagger, Dame Vivienne Westwood, Sue Webster, Polly Morgan, and Jo Wood. Happy birthday Tracey!
